It is the time when day and night are equal. It is the time of the harvest, and abundance. The direction is the west. It is the time of dreams and spiritual insight. Take time to look inward and to meditate. It is the time to reflect on what we are grateful for in our lives.
Don’t forget to celebrate! Go to an apple orchard or a pumpkin patch. Experience the abundance. Ask friends to join you!
Traditional Chinese medicine says that the autumn is when the Lung organ system is the weakest. This means that it is important to take special care of your immune system. One way to do this is by eating root vegetables such as daikon radish, potatoes, turnips, and parsnips. Other foods that also help with keeping the Lung organ system healthy include apple, pear, rice, oats, onions and garlic—just to name a few.
Please be aware that as the days get shorter it is even more important that you get enough vitamin D. If you aren’t sure that you are getting enough in your diet, you can have your physician check your blood to let you know how your level is. If it is low, I highly recommend a supplement. It can make a big difference.
Enjoy!
